While on patrol in the area of Fort Street and Coucy, police observed a vehicle appearing to purposefully avoid the officers at about 8:30 a.m. July 23. After observing the Chrysler minivan drift side to side, police conducted a traffic stop. While speaking to the 31-year-old Romulus woman, she appeared to be visually shaking and said police keep pulling her over. She added that she may have recently been charged for a drug offense and has a warrant, but she wasn’t sure. When asked if she had any illegal narcotics on her, she said she “injected heroin yesterday,” but didn’t have anything on her. During a search of her vehicle, police found drug paraphernalia including needles and traces of heroin throughout the van. The woman said it belonged to her cousin who was in the vehicle with her earlier that day. She was arrested and transported to the police station.
