Driver/Transporter

Location: Perfect Place Drop-In Center, 14705 Allen Rd, Southgate, MI 48195
Employment Type: [Full-Time / Part-Time] Reports To: Program Director

Job Summary:

The Driver/Transporter is responsible for safely transporting program participants to and from the Perfect Place Drop-In Center and other scheduled destinations. This role supports the overall mission of the center by ensuring reliable, respectful, and timely transportation services, while also assisting staff and participants as needed during transit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate company vans to transport participants to and from the center and community events.
• Ensure all passengers are treated with dignity and respect during transport.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the vehicle, including regular inspections and reporting maintenance needs.
• Assist participants in entering and exiting the vehicle when needed.
• Communicate effectively with program staff regarding schedules, participant needs, and any incidents.
• Support CPSS and Program Aid staff during outings or events as needed.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs and documentation.
• Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.

Qualifications:

• Valid chauffeur’s license required.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background check.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work with individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in human services, transportation, or community support roles.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and recovery principles.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
